Ensuring reliable power supply for IDC power distribution systems
From August 11 to 13, 2022, the 2022 China (Shanghai) International Data Center Industry Exhibition and the 3rd Data Center Green Energy Conference were successfully held in Nanjing. The event focused on fostering collaboration and exchange within the data center industry while exploring pathways for efficient, green, and sustainable development.
Midas Electric (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., as a provider of integrated solutions for power transfer and power quality control, showcased a range of independently developed products at the exhibition, including the integrated medium-voltage ATS, load management system, low-voltage bypass ATS, and static transfer switches (STS).
As the digital economy has been officially incorporated into China’s 14th Five-Year Plan as a standalone focus, data centers—serving as the core infrastructure of the digital economy—are experiencing rapid market growth. Looking ahead, IDC industry support systems will become more sophisticated, and system functionalities will diversify to meet the demands of high-speed development.
Compared to general-purpose loads, data center power supply and distribution systems feature greater structural complexity and place higher demands on operation and maintenance capabilities. Any power supply failure could result in immeasurable losses. Consequently, the data center industry is imposing increasingly stringent requirements for power supply stability and seamless switching of backup power systems.
At the Green Data Center Conference, Midas Electric showcased a range of cutting-edge products tailored to meet the stringent requirements of modern data center power infrastructure:
MDS9MV Series Integrated Medium Voltage ATS: Designed with dual mechanical and dual electrical interlock mechanisms, this intelligent switchgear enables step-by-step load transfer between two power sources, ensuring seamless switching and minimizing downtime in data centers.
ME-iPOWER Intelligent Load Management System: An open, networked, modular, and configurable platform that integrates monitoring, control, communication, and maintenance functions. By combining real-time operational monitoring with data analysis from multiple modules, the system delivers comprehensive insight into the power status, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply to critical data center operations.
MDS9B Series Bypass ATS: Designed for high-capacity distribution and mission-critical load applications, it features dual mechanical interlocks and supports maintenance without power interruption, guaranteeing power stability for vital data center equipment.
PowerSwift Series Static Transfer Switch (STS): With a maximum rated current of 1600A, this solution features dual thyristor switches with integrated control and protection systems. The four-pole version also includes a dedicated neutral circuit. Unlike traditional ATS, the STS ensures rapid source switching, maintaining continuous power delivery to critical loads.
MDVR Series Dynamic Voltage Regulator: Utilizing advanced control chips such as DSP, FPGA, and CPLD, the MDVR continuously monitors power quality. When voltage sags or surges are detected, the regulator instantly transfers power supply to the inverter, ensuring that sensitive downstream equipment remains unaffected.
These showcased solutions collectively reflect Midas Electric’s commitment to providing resilient, intelligent, and high-performance power solutions for the evolving demands of green and digital data centers.
As a high-tech enterprise specializing in intelligent power transfer solutions, Midas Electric has successfully delivered products and comprehensive power solutions—including the MDS9MV Series Medium Voltage ATS and the ME-iPOWER Load Management System—to numerous data center projects across China, including in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Anhui, Guizhou, and Hainan.
Looking ahead, as the digital economy continues to gain momentum, the data center industry will maintain its rapid growth trajectory. Midas Electric remains committed to ensuring power quality and uninterrupted power supply for data centers and other mission-critical sectors. We will continue to provide tailored power transfer systems and power quality products designed specifically for the data center industry, helping clients enhance operational efficiency and service reliability through customized solutions.
